Do I need AC in Ventura?

Honest answer: not always. Six questions to help you decide — and what the options look like if you do.

Why it's not obvious

Phone us

Ventura's coastal climate is mild for most of the year, which is why many older homes here were built with a furnace or wall heater and no air conditioning.

One call is all this takes. Tell us about the building and what changed, and we will say what we would look at first. We work across Ventura and its neighbours.

The options

From a fan to a heat pump

Fans & shade

Ceiling fans, shading west windows, and opening up at night when the air cools.

  • Cheapest
  • Won't cope with a heat wave

Window & portable units

One room, plug in, done. Fine for a rental or a stop-gap.

  • No installation work
  • Noisy; block the window

Ductless

A quiet wall unit in the rooms that overheat, with a small outdoor unit. Heats as well as cools.

  • No ducts needed
  • One indoor unit per zone

Whole-house heat pump

Replaces the furnace and adds cooling, using your existing ducts where they're sound.

  • Heating and cooling in one
  • Needs good ducts
